Gabriela Vasallo is president and owner of Lexico LLC., a full-service translation and communications agency with offices in San Diego, CA and Miami, FL. With more than 10 years of experience as a professional translator and communications specialist, Gabriela has helped Fortune 500 companies, non-profit organizations, and small businesses effectively communicate with the U.S. Hispanic market and Latin America.

With extensive experience in the technology and telecommunications sector, serving for three years as editor, content manager and translator for AT&T's Spanish-language website, Gabriela is an expert in website localization. Born and raised in Guatemala, Gabriela is a native Spanish speaker. She attended St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communications. After working for many years in advertising and public relations, she went on to obtain
her professional certification as a translator and interpreter at the University of California in San Diego. Currently, she is also an active associate member of the American Translators Association.

Dr. Verónica de Hermes
Proofreader, Medical Expert
Experienced editor and proofreader with 20 years of experience, Verónica is a native Spanish speaker
who specializes in editing and proofreading medical, legal, and health insurance materials. Her medical background,
practicing for many years as an anesthesiologist abroad, combined with her attention to detail ensures that
all health-related documents will be precise and correctly translated.
Additionally, in her spare time, Verónica is constantly researching and writing in
her field, and has published many articles in Spanish such as Anesthesia in
Dental Clinics, Current Issues in Post Operatory Pain Management, and Use
of BIS in Ambulatory Surgery.
Her work at Lexico includes proofreading projects for clients Careington International Corporation,
Blue Cross/Blue Shield, the Central American Federation of Anesthesia Societies,
Silhouette Breast Forms and Post-surgical Lingerie, Actonel, and Dulcolax.

Zoya Yarnykh was born and raised in Moscow, Russia. She moved to the United Sates 15 years ago to pursue her secondary education.
Zoya's cross-cultural experience lends unique sensitivity to translations of both language and cultural idioms. Also, she has great precision and attention to detail honed from her significant experience in the legal field. She previously has worked as a professional translator and paralegal for the Law Offices of Arthur C. Chambers. Her experience includes translating legal affidavits, forms, briefs, and letters, among other documents for Immigration and Naturalization purposes.
Zoya graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from San Francisco State University and earned a J.D. from the University of San Francisco, School of Law. She is an active member of The California Bar.

Mark serves as an expert legal consultant for Lexico. He is an accomplished attorney licensed to practice in Florida and California, with both law firm and corporate in-house experience. His valuable consulting contributions and expertise provide Lexico clients with another readily-available resource to ensure accuracy when it comes to legal document translations. Mark has extensive experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, including purchasing, sales, leasing, licensing, marketing, employment, settlement agreements, and confidentiality agreements. He has also advised clients on trademark, insurance, and employment matters. Mark's an efficient and detail-oriented editor, as well as a wealth of knowledge when it comes to translating and adapting legal concepts from Latin American civil law into the U.S. common law system. Beyond his legal expertise, Mark's Cuban American heritage, growing up in a truly bicultural household, lends a cultural sensitivity and awareness to his work making him a valuable resource when it comes to business and website translations.
Graduating in the top 5% of his class with a B.S. in Zoology from Auburn University, Mark started his career in the biological sciences. Mark also studied Spanish language, history and culture at the Universidad de Granada, Spain. He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from The University of Miami School of Law. Attending on an academic scholarship, he was Executive Editor of the Inter-American Law Review, focusing primarily on Latin American legal matters. Mark's has worked for Federal Judge William C. Turnoff; practiced law at a major international firm; served as in-house counsel at a $9B Financial Company; and is currently running his own law firm focusing on litigation, tax, and transactions.
Mayari Carter is a native Spanish speaker born and raised in Guatemala City. Her clinical nutrition background serves her well when translating or proofreading technical health-related language and terminology. Her experience with patients in the Hispanic community and her work as nutritionist for clinics and government-backed programs has led her to translate and interpret on a daily basis. Her excellent command of both languages makes her a vital member of the Lexico team. She specializes in proofreading of medical documents and nutrition/diet books in Spanish.
Mayari graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from Universidad Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala City. She currently resides in California and freelances as a Spanish/English translator, proofreader, and healthcare interpreter.
Associate Translator, English/Spanish
Krista Timeus is a native Spanish speaker born and raised in Guatemala. She learned English at an early age, speaking it both at home and in school, and then went on to perfect it as an undergraduate student living in North Carolina. Her liberal arts education covered a wide range of subjects and skills, focusing on writing and communication. This training has served her well as an English-Spanish translator, as she can communicate clearly and accurately convey concepts on subjects ranging from law to science in both languages. She has worked on several marketing and website translations as an Associate Translator for Lexico, including work for the San Diego Water Authority, Winn Dixie, and Cook & Schmid Public Relations.
Krista is also fluent in German and has a B.A. in Political Science from Davidson College, where she graduated cum laude. Additionally, she has traveled extensively throughout Latin America and Europe working as a volunteer interpreter for several non-profits.

Ilya Svetlichnyy is a native Russian with fluency in Russian and English. He was born and raised in eastern Russia. During his time in Russia, Ilya began English lessons at a young age and learned it along with the complexities of the Russian language. He also has traveled several times to the major cities of Russia's economic and cultural activity, including Moscow and St. Petersburg.
For the past 10 years, Ilya has been living, studying, and working in the United States. His U.S. studies have included receiving an American High School Diploma, an Associate Degree in Web Development, and he is currently enrolled at San Diego State University pursuing a degree in finance.
Presently, Ilya works with financial and legal documents and conducts business in both English and Russian. Ilya is able to provide culturally-relevant translations as he thinks and lives in both languages.
Sr. Translator, Certified English/Portuguese
Rafa Lombardino is a native Brazilian who has been working with Portuguese, English, and Spanish languages in the translation industry since 1997 and has three years of experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) in Brazil.
She is certified in the English into Portuguese language pair by the American Translators Association (ATA) and in English and Spanish translations by the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). She is a member in good standing of the ATA, the Better Business Bureau — San Diego Chapter, and the Association of Translators and Interpreters in the San Diego Area (ATISDA), for which she serves in the capacity of Director of Information Technology. Additionally, she provides training to language professionals who wish to improve their computer skills.
With a Professional Degree in Computer Sciences, Major in Data Processing, her main field is Computers and Technology working on website localization and translating manuals, help files, software/hardware specifications, and cell phone content, among other related material.
Having a Bachelor's Degree in Social Communications, Major in Journalism, Rafa has also specialized in business communications, providing transnational corporations with a Portuguese version of their magazines, newsletters, and press releases, as well as translating into English several articles that have been published in the Brazilian media about our clients.

Sr. Legal Translator and Proofreader
Ms. Santos received her Juris Doctor degree from University of Miami School of Law, graduating cum laude in May 2003. She attended UM on a merit-based, full-tuition scholarship. During her time at UM she was a member of the Inter-American Law Review. Her written article was chosen for publication by the Review and won her an award for outstanding writing. Prior to law school Ms. Santos graduated cum laude from Duke University with a major in Sociology, minor in Economics and certificate in Markets & Management.
Since 2008 Ms. Santos has applied her knowledge and expertise of complex legal terminology in both Spanish and English to the translations industry, as part of the Lexico team. She pursued graduate level Spanish courses during her time at Duke University, as well as courses in Spanish Civil Law taught in Spanish at University of Miami School of Law. Her experience includes translating legal affidavits, forms, contracts, briefs, and letters, among other documents submitted to the Department of Homeland Security and for private clients. Her legal education, former experience in civil litigation, and constant communication with clients in different professional fields from all over Latin America gives her the necessary experience and ability to quickly pick up the subtleties of a client's business or specific industry as it pertains to precise and accurate translations.
Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Ms. Santos is bilingual and bicultural. She is a member of The Florida Bar, American Immigration Lawyers Association, and Puerto Rican Bar Association. She is admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida and United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. She serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Duke Club of South Florida.
